WICHITA, KS- Wichita Wingnuts' left fielder Greg Porter was named the American Association's Batter of the Month for June.The honor marks the first time that a Wingnuts player has received a Player of the Month award from the league.  Porter hit .481 in 27 games in June, going 50 for 104 with six home runs and 21 RBIs.  Porter drew 22 walks while striking out a mere seven times.  The West Point, TX native scored 23 runs and collected 11 doubles.  Twice during the month, Porter earned Player of the Week accolades.The hot stretch by Porter, which includes an active franchise-best 19-game hitting streak, vaulted Porter atop the league batting race.  Porter is currently hitting .391, 26 points better than the next best hitter.  Porter ranks first in slugging percentage (.598) and hits (66).  He also ranks second in on-base percentage (.488) and is tied for fourth in extra-base hits (20).Porter spent each ... Wichita, KS- The Wingnuts winning streak ended at a franchise-best nine games in a 6-1 loss to the Sioux City Explorers on Wednesday night at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.  Sioux City, who ended their own eight-game losing streak, got their offense from an unlikely source as pitcher Tyler Meigs went 3-4 with two doubles and three RBI.  Meigs, who was the starting ptcher and batted ninth last night, was playing DH due to Sioux City's depleted roster.  The Explorers went up 3-0 before ... Wichita, KS- The Wingnuts celebrated pitching coach Luke Robertson's 30th birthday with their 30th win of the season, a 4-2 decision over the Sioux City Explorers on Tuesday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.  Sioux City did all their damage in the top of the first, getting an RBI single from Landon Camp and an RBI double from Justin Nelson.  After that is was all Wingnuts, led by Derek Blacksher who went seven strong innings.The Wingnuts quickly tied the game in the bottom of the first on an ... Mohr Named Batter of the Week

WICHITA, KS- Wichita Wingnuts' right fielder Dustan Mohr has been named the American Association Batter of the Week for June 22nd-28th.Mohr hit safely in all seven games, posting a .406 batting average (13-32) with 10 RBIs.  On Saturday, Mohr hit a three-run double to break open what was eventually a 7-0 victory that closed the Wingnuts within one game of the division title.Mohr currently ranks second in the league with 39 RBIs, and is riding an eight-game hitting streak.  The ...
