ST. PAUL, MN- Game two of the Wingnuts' Saturday double header against the St. Paul Saints has been postponed.
The game will be made up as part of another double header on Sunday beginning at 1:05 p.m. As per league rules, each game is scheduled for seven innings.
In the lone game played on Saturday, the Wingnuts came from behind to beat the Saints 3-1.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the seventh, Chad Rothford hit a three-run home run off of Joe D'Alessandro to give the Wingnuts a 3-1 lead. Michael Thompson opened the inning with a single and advanced to second when Steve Pearson was hit by a pitch. After Michael Sharp bunted into a force play, Rothford homered to deep right-center with an 0-2 count.
The Saints scored their lone run on a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the fourth from Gerard Haran. Brent Krause had doubled down the right field line with two outs and moved to third on a wild pitch before Haran drove him in.
Sean Teague turned in another good start for the Wingnuts, allowing one run on four hits and striking out four in five innings in a no-decision. Brandon Mathes earned the win with a perfect sixth to keep the Wingnuts close. Justin Dowdy dominated in the bottom of the seventh, striking out the side to earn his eighth save of the year. Ryan Morse started for the Saints, tossing 5.1 scoreless innings in a no-decision.
