Wingnuts, Beauchamp part ways

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts announced today that manager Kash Beauchamp will not return for the 2009 season.

“I want to thank Kash for everything he did to help the Wingnuts inaugural season be such a success”, said general manager Josh Robertson.  “The organization has made tremendous strides to ensure that 2009 will be a great one, but after meeting with Kash today we decided that a change needed to be made.”

The Wingnuts enjoyed tremendous success at the gate, drawing 10 crowds over 4500 fans this season - including an amazing over capacity sellout crowd of 8,225 on June 21st - and finished fifth overall in the American Association in attendance.  On the field, Wichita just missed out on winning the North Division’s first half title before dropping off to fourth in the second half and finishing with an overall mark of 45-50.

“My experience in Wichita was nothing but a pleasurable one for both me and my wife and I look forward to remaining a part of the community”, said Beauchamp.  “Although I was disappointed with the results on the field, it was a great learning experience and one I will always be grateful for.”

The Wingnuts will host their first ever fan appreciation party tonight at 6:00 p.m. at America’s Pub in Old Town.  Fans of all ages are welcome to attend and food will be served.

The 2009 Wingnuts schedule is expected to be released in November and the opening pitch will take place in May.  For season tickets or more information, please call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
