Saltdogs force deciding game with extra inning win

Wichita, KS- The Wingnuts were outdueled by the Lincoln Saltdogs, falling 3-1 in 11 innings in game four of the North Division Finals on Saturday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Wichita starter Gabe Medina threw nine strong innings, allowing just one run, but Lincoln starter Justin Knoff was equally impressive, also allowing just one run in nine innings.  Neither starter factored in the outcome.

Wichita scored their lone run in the third on a sacrifice fly by Greg Porter, while Lincoln tied things up in the sixth on an RBI single by Albenis Machado.  Wichita had a golden opportunity to win the game in the bottom of the ninth after Michael Thompson hit a leadoff double.  Thompson, though, was left stranded.  Wichita left a man on second base in the 10th as well.

In the 11th, Lincoln got two-out RBI singles from Phil Hawke and Argelis Nunez to take the lead.  Lincoln closer Chris Thompson retired the Wingnuts in order to end the game.

The best-of-five series is now tied 2-2 with the deciding game on Sunday at 5:05 p.m.  The winner will face the Pensacola Pelicans in the American Association Championship Series.  For tickets call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
