WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts recently won "Best Local Sports Team" honors in the Wichita Eagle's inaugural Readers' Choice survey.
The survey covered over 130 categories throughout the Wichita area, including food, shopping, and services. Over 4,000 votes were submitted during an 11-day period from late-July into early-August. The official results were made public on September 24th.
"This is a great honor for our organization, especially with so many other first-class sports entities in the Wichita area", said Wingnuts' President Josh Robertson. "We've been blessed with great fan support from day one, and thank the community for this recognition."
Since the Wingnuts began play in 2008, the franchise has averaged 3,301 fans per game whlie compiling a 153-134 (.533) record. The Wingnuts have finished in either first or second place in four of six "half-seasons" during this period.
