WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts will face their first test today, as they battle the Inland Empire 66 in the first round of CNBC.com’s best minor league baseball logo contest.
The contest, which will run through March 31, features 64 teams in a single-elimination bracket decided by online voting. The Wichita Wingnuts enter the tournament as a number 12 seed, but just being selected is an impressive feat, considering there are 252 minor league baseball teams. The Wingnuts will also hold a press conference today at 2:30 p.m. to introduce their first mascot. The introduction will be made in the home clubhouse at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
Wichita’s newest baseball franchise will begin their first season of play on May 7th, when they host the Sioux City Explorers for a three-game set at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
