Wingnuts battle Dragons today

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts will face another tough opponent today as they battle the number six seeded Dayton Dragons in the Elite Eight round of CNBC.com’s best minor league baseball logo contest.

Thanks to the time zone difference, Dayton got a head start and is already ahead 72%-28%.  Fans can cast their votes here: http://www.cnbc.com/id/23825573/site/14081545.  The polls are open until 9:00 a.m. Eastern on Friday.

The contest, which will run through April 1, features 64 teams in a single-elimination bracket decided by online voting.  The Wingnuts entered the tournament as a #12 seed and have already defeated the #5 seed Inland Empire 66 convincingly, as well as the #4 seed Savannah Sand Gnats and the #16 seed Trenton Thunder.

Today’s other Elite Eight match up features another #12 seed, the Quad City River Bandits versus the #2 seed Clinton Lumber Kings.  The Augusta Green Jackets and the Southern Illinois Miners have already advanced to the Final Four.

Wichita’s newest baseball team will begin their inaugural season of play on May 7th, when they host the Sioux City Explorers for a three-game set at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.  For more information or to order tickets, please call our office at 264-GOAL or visit our website at www.wichitawingnuts.com.
