WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts, proud member of the American Association of Professional Baseball (AA), will play their first ever game tonight, when they face the Lincoln Saltdogs at 7:05 p.m. in an exhibition game in Beatrice, Nebraska (weather permitting).
Left handed pitcher Leonard Landeros (pronounced lan-DARE-ose) will get the start tonight. An eighth-year pro out of Exeter, California, Landeros pitched in AAA ball last season with the Oakland A’s organization.
After tonight’s game the Wingnuts will head to Kansas City on Saturday, where they will face the Northern League’s Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks at 2:05 p.m. Wichita will wrap up the weekend taking on the Northern League’s Kansas City T-Bones on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. in Kansas City.
The Wingnuts placed pitchers Kellen Raab and Austin Redwine on irrevocable waivers today and now have 26 players vying for 22 roster spots, though teams may carry two additional players for the first two weeks of the season.
The Wingnuts roster is highlighted by former WSU Shocker and Detroit Tiger Kevin Hooper, as well as former WSU standout Derek Schermerhorn and seven-year MLB veteran outfielder Dustan Mohr. Other players to watch include pitcher Brad Davis, infielder Mike Thompson and outfielders Chris Colton and David Gates.
Individual tickets for all Wingnuts regular season home games are on sale now, ranging from just $10.99 in the lower box or $7.99 for upper chairback, with $1 off for senior citizens, children under 12 and military personnel. General Admission seats are just $5.99 each.

The Wingnuts will play 48 home games between May and August, highlighted by 10 Fireworks Nights and Wichita River Festival Night on Friday, May 9th, in which all fans get free general admission tickets with their River Fest button. For the 74th straight year Lawrence Dumont Stadium will host the National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series from August 1-15.
