WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts, proud member of the American Association of Professional Baseball (AA), played their first ever game and dropped a 7-2 decision to the Lincoln Saltdogs in a rain shortened game at Beatrice, Nebraska tonight.
The Wingnuts fell behind early, with starting pitcher Leonard Landeros allowing five runs in the first inning. Blake Gailen and Heath Keel were Wichita's offensive stars each going 2-2 with a walk. Gailen also had a home run. The game was called after six innings due to rain.
The Wingnuts will head to Kansas City on Saturday, where they will face the Northern League’s Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks at 2:05 p.m. Wichita will wrap up the weekend taking on the Northern League’s Kansas City T-Bones on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. in Kansas City.
