WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts, proud member of the American Association of Professional Baseball (AA), will hold Media Day on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
All Wingnuts players and coaches will be on in hand for interviews and pictures. The media will also get their first look at the 2008 Wingnuts uniforms.
The Wingnuts finalized their opening day roster today, releasing catcher Paul Vargo and placing second baseman Brandon Carter and pitcher Ronnie Ball on the inactive list. The Wingnuts now have 25 players on their roster, with 23 active. All American Association teams must have their roster down to 22 players by May 22nd.
Wichita’s newest baseball team will begin their inaugural season of play on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Sioux City Explorers for the first of a three-game set at Lawrence Dumont Stadium. Plenty of festivities are planned for opening night, including post game fireworks. Dignitaries for the ceremonial first pitch will also arrive to the pitcher’s mound via helicopter and motorcycle.
On Friday all fans can get general admission tickets with their Wichita River Festival Button. The cast of the Bobby Bones Show will be on hand Friday with Amy singing the National Anthem and Bobby Bones throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Bobby Bones is the featured morning show on Channel 96.3 FM.
Individual tickets for all 48 Wingnuts regular season home games are on sale now, ranging from just $10.99 in the lower box or $7.99 for upper chairback, with $1 off for senior citizens, children under 12 and military personnel. General Admission seats are just $5.99 each.
