Wichita, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts made a huge splash in their debut, both on and off the field. The Wingnuts defeated the Sioux City Explorers 7-4 in front of a massive crowd of 5,874 fans - just short of the 6,111 capacity.
Rookie Heath Keel led the Wingnuts with three hits, while Mike Thompson and Brenan Herrera chipped in two hits each. Pitcher Brad Davis picked up the win, while Byron Embry recorded the final two outs for his first save.
The Wingnuts and Explorers will meet again on Friday for a doubleheader, beginning at 5:05 p.m. For tickets call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
