Wingnuts quiet Cats

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts gave up a first inning run and shut down the Fort Worth Cats the rest of the way, taking a 2-1 win on Monday night in front of 5,211 fans at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
Justin Young pitched eight strong innings and did not allow a hit after the third inning, striking out six and walking one to earn the victory.  Young was pulled after allowing a leadoff walk in the ninth and Byron Embry came on to get the final three outs for the save.
The Wingnuts, now 7-5, scored an unearned run in the first inning and Brenan Herrera hit the game-winning home run in the fifth.  Michael Thompson had two hits, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.
The WIngnuts and Cats will do battle again on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.  For tickets call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
