WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts got solid starting pitching for the second straight night and defeated the Fort Worth cats 5-1 on Tuesday night at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
Leonard Landeros picked up the win allowing just one unearned run in 6 2/3 innings and striking out three. Newcomer Amad Stephens recorded two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings and closer Byron Embry picked up his third save, coming into the game with the bases loaded and striking out both batters he faced.
The WIngnuts offense picked up all five runs courtesy of 10 walks by Fort Worth pitchers. Kevin Hooper knocked in the final run of the evening with an eighth inning double after Derek Schermerhorn walked and stole second with two outs. Michael Thompson went 0-4, ending his hitting streak at 12 innings.
