Sioux Falls, SD- After taking 10 innings to score a single run last night, it took the Wingnuts just two batters tonight, but that was it as Wichita fell 5-1 at the Sioux Falls Canaries.
Wichita's lone run came on a leadoff triple by Kevin Hooper, followed by an RBI ground out by Blake Gailen. The Wingnuts recorded just three more hits after that. Despite the lack of offense, the Wingnuts held a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the sixth inning. Starter Brad Davis suffered the loss, allowing just two runs in 6 2/3 innings. Sioux Falls added three runs in the eighth. Wingnuts Manager Kash Beauchamp was ejected for arguing balls and strikes in the seventh inning.
The two teams will meet again on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m., the second game of Wichita's six-game road trip. The Wingnuts will return home next Tuesday to start a six-game home stand. For tickets call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
