Wingnuts Swept in Double Header

SIOUX FALLS, SD - Tuesday night the Wichita Wingnuts dropped both ends of a double header to the Sioux Falls Canaries, losing 2-0 in game one and 10-2 in the nightcap.

Justin Young pitched a complete game in the losing effort in the first match, allowing two runs in six innings pitched. The Canaries scratched out single runs in the second and fourth innings to back Ryan Ford, who pitched six shutout innings for the win. Canaries' closer Kris Regas pitched a perfect seventh to seal the win.

In game two, Beau Torbert led the way with a pair of two-run homeruns. Sioux Falls starter Ben Moore faced the minimum over the first six, and finished the night with a seven-inning complete game allowing two runs.

Kevin Hooper reached base for the 20th and 21st consecutive games with a single in both games.

Wichita is now 3.5 games back of first place Sioux Falls, who is in sole possession of the top spot in the division after St. Paul's loss to Sioux City.
