WICHITA, KS - Friday night the Wichita Wingnuts defeated the Sioux City Explorers by a score of 4-2 at Lewis and Clark Park.
Richard Salazar earned his second consecutive win, allowing two runs on four hits in 5.1 IP. Salazar struck out a season-high six while walking just one.
Kevin Hooper collected three hits for the second straight game and seventh time this year. Blake Gailen extended his hitting streak to eight games with an RBI single in the top of the ninth.
Byron Embry earned his ninth save of the year after pitching a scoreless ninth.
The Wingnuts' victory, combined with the Saints loss to Sioux Falls means that Wichita can clinch sole possession of second place with a win on Saturday. The contest vs. Sioux City will be Wichita's final game of the first half.
