WICHITA, KS - Thursday night the Wingnuts won a 5-2 decision over the Pensacola Pelicans at Pelican Park. Brad Davis pitched seven strong innings, allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out four.
Dustan Mohr got Wichita on the board with a bases loaded two-run single in the top of the third inning. Steve Pearson followed with an RBI hit to open a 3-0 lead. Pearson added an RBI double in the top of the eight inning to add insurance, giving Wichita a 4-2 advantage.
Amad Stephens pitched a scoreless eighth, while Byron Embry pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 11th save.
The Wingnuts travel west and open a three-game series against the South Division's first half champs, the Fort Worth Cats, on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
