WICHITA, KS - Dustan Mohr was activated from the disabled list Wednesday, headlining several Wingnuts' player moves.
Mohr had been on the 7-day disabled list since July 21st and had undergone precautionary surgery on his thyroid last weekend. Mohr has 30 RBI in 34 games with Wichita this year and will return to the starting lineup for Wednesday's double header against St. Paul. To make room, the Wingnuts released infielder Jimmy Baker. Baker was hitting .261 in 23 at bats.
Wichita also signed catcher Jeff Stevens. A former Atlanta Braves farm hand, Stevens has a career .295 batting average in 129 at bats. He most recently played for the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League, going 3-9 in three games. Stevens will help ease the loss of Felipe Del Rosario who was released after dislocating his hip during a collision at home plate in Monday's 8-5 loss to Sioux City.
The Wingnuts are back in action on Thursday against the St. Paul Saints. First pitch at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call the Wingnuts' office at (316) 264-4625.
