WICHITA, KS - The Wingnuts suffered a tough 5-4 loss to the Lincoln Saltdogs on Wednesday night at Haymarket Park.
Lincoln right fielder Shawn McGill hit a two-out two-run double off of Byron Embry in the bottom of the ninth inning, scoring Albenis Machado and Dustin Yount.
Wichita had built a 4-0 lead, scoring a pair of runs in both the second and third innings, but the Saltdogs never relented. Lincoln scored single runs in the third, fourth, and seventh before getting the two runs in the ninth.
The game marked the first time Wichita lost when leading after eight innings, having been 33-0 before Wednesday. The Wingnuts fall to 5.0 games behind idle Sioux City. Wichita opens a four-game series with Sioux City, beginning with a 6:05 p.m. double header at Lewis and Clark Park on Thursday night.
