WICHITA, KS- Three Wichita pitchers combined on a one-hitter as the Wingnuts defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries 2-1 on Sunday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
Starter Richard Salazar retired the first 13 batters before allowing a hit and a run in the fifth inning. Kevin Cheppenko piched a scoreless eighth to record the win and Byron Embry pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 20th save of the season.
The Wingnuts scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Brenan Herrera that scored Blake Gailen. Kevin Hooper went 3-4 for the Wingnuts.
