Vic Davilla got his payback, but Pat Mahomes had the last word in Sioux Falls' 3-2 win over the Wingnuts on Monday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Davilla hit a game-tying two run home run off Mahomes in the sixth before Mahomes responded by retiring the final seven batters he faced. Patrick Reilly doubled home the winning run for the Canaries off Doug Hurn in the ninth inning.
Davilla and Mahomes exchanged words during a recent series in Sioux Falls because Davilla didn't appreciate the 11-year major league veteran's animation on the mound.
"He was just being a baby," Davilla said. "They beat us three games in a row and he's complaining about not getting a strike call and complaining to the umpire about it. And I had to be the one to tell him to be quiet and get back on the mound. For me, (the home run) was good but I wish we would have won."
