WICHITA, KS - The Wichita Wingnuts announced three more signings on Friday, with the additions of Scott Daniels, Bill Duffy, and Jeff Reekers.
Daniels, a catcher, played collegiate ball at both Hiwassee College and Milligan College, both located in Daniels's home state of Tennessee.
Reekers, a right handed pitcher, made his professional debut in the American Association with the Lincoln Saltdogs in 2008. A native of Moraga, CA, Reekers made two appearances for Lincoln, working 3.1 innings and allowing one earned run. Reekers played at the University of California-Davis, where he went 9-7 as a starting pitcher from 2007-2008. He struck out 47 hitters while walking 29 in 121.1 IP during that stretch.
Duffy, a left handed outfielder, played four seasons of collegiate ball at Lewis University from 2004-2008. The Clarendon Hills, IL native hit .289 as a senior in 2008, stealing six bases in seven attempts, and scoring 31 runs in 46 games. Duffy led the Flyers in batting average in 2007, hitting .337 in 55 games. As a freshman in 2005, Duffy finished second on the team in average at .311.
The newly signed trio joins returning All-Star third baseman Michael Thompson, as well as catcher Zach Goldberg, and shortstop Derek Jennings, giving the Wingnuts six players under contract for the 2009 season.
The Wingnuts open their second season against the Lincoln Saltdogs on May 14th, 2009 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. First pitch is now scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Season tickets and group packages are on sale now. For more information, contact the Wingnuts' office at (316) 264-GOAL.
