WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts have announced the re-signing of veteran outfielder Dustan Mohr.
A seven-year Major League veteran, Mohr played with the Wingnuts during their inaugural season in 2008, collecting 41 RBI in 53 games played.
Mohr earned a midseason pickup with the Colorado Rockies' AAA affiliate in Colorado Springs, before returning to the Wingnuts in July.
The Hattiesburg, MO native hit .283 with men on base for Wichita last year. Mohr had a pair of two-homerun games, including a performance on July 11th versus Lincoln in which he connected for a double, two homeruns, and a season-high six RBI.
Mohr spent seven seasons in the Major Leagues, most notably with the Rockies and the Minnesota Twins. Mohr is a lifetime .500 hitter in the MLB playoffs, going 7 for 14 in the 2002 American League Division Series and Championship Series. Mohr was originally drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 9th round in 1997 after finishing his college career at the University of Alabama. He has 49 career Major League homeruns, including a career-best 17 with the Rockies in 2005. 2009 will be Mohr's 13th year in professional baseball.
Mohr joins returning third baseman Michael Thompson, as well as newcomers Zach Goldberg, Derek Jennings, Scott Daniels, Bill Duffy, and Jeff Reekers as players under contract for the upcoming season. American Association teams can carry up to 28 players through training camp, before reducing their rosters to 22 during the regular season.
