FORT WORTH, TX- The Wichita Wingnuts lost 5-2 in an exhibition match against the Fort Worth Cats on Saturday night at LaGrave Field.
Cats' starter Aaron Crow threw four scoreless innings, while Brian Fryer contributed two RBI.
The Cats broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Ryan Patterson's sacrifice fly scored Brian Fryer for a 1-0 Cats' lead. They added another run in the sixth inning as Fryer's sacrifice fly scored Aljay Davis, who had been hit by a pitch to start off the frame.
The Cats made it 5-0 with a three-run eighth that included an RBI double by Michael Bell, a run-scoring single by Charles Carter and another sacrifice fly by Fryer. Fryer was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Catcher Zach Goldberg drove in both runs for Wichita with a two-run single in the ninth inning. The Wingnuts finish their preseason schedule with a record of 1-2 and will now prepare for their season opener on Thursday.
