Wichita, KS- The Wingnuts continued to hit the ball, but failed to come up with a single clutch hit, falling 4-0 to Sioux Falls on Thursday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
Wichita pounded nine hits, but left runners on base in every inning but the first and the last (12 total), and seven in scoring position. The Canaries, meanwhile, got all they needed with a three-run, two-out rally in the third inning. Trevor Lawhorn had the clutch hit, knocking in a pair with a double. The Canaries added an insurance run in the sixth to make a winner out of starter Jino Gonzalex. William Savage went seven innings but suffered the loss for Wichita.
Despite the loss, Wichita remains two games up in the Northern Division with a record of 5-2. The Wingnuts will travel to Sioux City tomorrow for a three-game set with the Explorers, before returning home on Tuesday to start a three-game series with their hated rivals, the St. Paul Saints.
