WICHITA, KS- Wichita Wingnuts' left fielder Greg Porter has been named the American Association Batter of the Week for June 1st-7th.
Porter hit safely in all six games last week, going 14-27 (.519) with seven doubles. The former two-sports star at Texas A&M is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak. Entering tonight's game at Sioux Falls, Porter is hitting .326 on the season with eight doubles and 14 RBIs.
Porter becomes the third Wingnuts' player to garner Player of the Week honors, with outfielder Blake Gailen and pitcher Gustavo Mata earning the distinction last year.
The Wingnuts open a four-game series tonight at Sioux Falls. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Derek Blacksher matches up against lefty Ryan Ford.
