Wichita, KS- Josh Horn homered to center field in the bottom of the 11th inning giving the Wingnuts a wild 9-8 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs on Monday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium - Wichita's 100th all-time win.
The Wingnuts took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Brenan Herrera in the third, but Lincoln went ahead in the top of the fourth with four runs. Rafael Alvarez had the big hit of the inning, knocking a three-run opposite field blast over the left field wall.
In the fourth, Wichita scored six runs, all with two men out. Patrick Brooks, Herrera and Nick Blasi each had two RBI in the inning. After a rough fourth inning, wingnuts starter Derek Blacksher cruised, leaving the game with a 7-4 lead that the Wingnuts bullpen couldn't hold. Lincoln went ahead in the eighth, scoring four runs on three hits, two wild pitches and a pair of very costly errors. Wichita was able to tie the game in the bottom of the inning though, thanks to a two-out RBI single by Joe Muich.
Diego Soto earned his first professional victory, allowing no hits and just a pair of walks in three strong innings of work. Lincoln reliever Adam Daniels suffered the loss.
