LINCOLN, NE- The Wichita Wingnuts lost 2-1 to the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park on Tuesday night.
Chris Colton's infield single up the third base line in the top of the second brought in Mario Delgado from third to give the Wingnuts a 1-0 lead.
Argelis Nunez hit an opposite field home run to right in the bottom of the second to tie the game. Nunez drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth to give Lincoln a 2-1 lead. Juan Richardson doubled to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a Rafael Alvarez groundout before scoring on Nunez' flyball to left.
Gabe Medina pitched seven-plus innings, allowing two runs on just five hits. Medina struck out six, all swinging, and walked just one while throwing 91 pitches. Tim Brown earned the win, allowing one earned run in seven innings. The Wingnuts did not have a hit after the second. Chris Thompson pitched a perfect ninth to earn the save.
Josh Horn was thrown out trying to steal second base in the top of the first, marking the first time an opposing catcher has thrown him out since August 26, 2008, snapping a streak of 22 straight steals without being gunned down by a catcher.
